Friday – The Gift of Eternal Life

How long is eternity? This is an impossible question to answer, because we can’t imagine or even measure eternity.  It has no beginning and no end.  It isn’t bound by the constructs of time or space.  Even to describe it as being “forever” is difficult for the human mind to comprehend.

Eternal life means that we not only live forever, but it means we overcome death, that we will live forever in the presence of God, we will all be changed, we will no longer be held captive by sin, we will no longer watch those around us self-destruct because of the curse of sin, we will enjoy life as it was before Adam and Eve sinned, and we get to do this forever!  What an incredible thought!  What an incredible gift!  It was given by God, through Jesus Christ, to us.  Why would anyone want to walk away from such a gift?  Why would anyone want to leave this gift unopened, when it was given freely?

Prayer Focus: Father, thank you for the gift of eternal life. Help me to understand more fully that the gift of eternal life is not simply the quantity (how long) but also the quality of the life (how good).  Help me to live with confidence today, because of Your greatest gift.
